Čović invited Austrian President to visit BiH

GENEVA, (Patria) - Chairman of the BiH Presidency Dragan Čović met in Geneva with Alexander Van der Bellen, President of the Republic of Austria. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the high-level session of the 37th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council.

The interlocutors exchanged views on how to improve relations between the two countries. Chairman of the BiH Presidency Čović informed his interlocutor about the activities on the European path, and the upcoming submission of the Questionnaire, which will fulfill the key formal condition for confirming candidate status, and then the prerequisites for opening individual negotiation chapters. 

President Van der Bellen emphasized that the mood regarding the EU enlargement to the Western Balkans has significantly improved recently, which is an opportunity for all countries, including BiH. He expressed full support for BiH's European path, and welcomed the efforts to reach a consensus on the reform of the Election Law that will protect the principle of legitimate representation, and the rights of citizens to full participation in the political life of the country.
