Čović accuses Islamic Community of providing logistics for Komšić's election as Croat representative

(Patria) - Chairman of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina and leader of HDZ BiH Dragan Čović said tonight that the time for an agreement on amendments to the Election Law has practically expired.

As Čović stated in an interview for HRT, that time was limited to the past, non-election year.

"We must use the time ahead of us to find a solution. I am sure that we will have to make changes to the Election Law. I am still optimistic," said the leader of HDZ BiH.

Commenting on Dodik's recent statements that the election of the Croat member of the BiH Presidency is being "arranged in mosques and with the mediation of religious officials," Čović said that this is no secret.

"For some time now, the IC BiH has had a special place in BiH politics. This is not hidden. I am sure that together with the IC BiH and Bosniak politics, a very clear plan and necessary logistics have been made to elect two Bosniak members of the BiH Presidency. Representatives of the IC BiH are fully involved in this, and that is quite certain," added Čović.

He also commented on the statements of SDA leader Bakir Izetbegović, who said that Croats have 46 positions in state and entity institutions at the expense of Bosniaks.

"Izetbegović perceives BiH as a pashaluk in which he has a special place. When he wakes up, prays, and drinks coffee, he expects everyone to follow him. He still cannot understand that BiH can exclusively function as a community of three constituent peoples," says Čović.

He also assessed whether "Bosniak unitarism" or "Serbian separatism" is more dangerous for the state of BiH.

"Unitarism fuels separatism. I fear that the most numerous people in BiH are going down the wrong path," concluded Čović, reports Klix.
