Čović held a lecture at the Moscow State Institute

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Chairman of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH Dragan Čović held a lecture at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations - MGIMO University, on the topic of “Security Challenges in the Western Balkans in the Context of the European Perspective”, and informed students about the European integration processes in BiH and its surroundings.

He emphasized the necessity of BiH obtaining candidate status as soon as possible in the process of integration into the European Union, reforms in the area of the rule of law, including reforms of electoral legislation in accordance with the Constitution and decisions of the Constitutional Court of BiH, with full respect for the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights, and the necessity of finding a compromise between collective rights and individual rights.

Čović underlined the importance of the partnership and understanding role of the international community, whose influence is particularly pronounced and whose constructive role, through facilitating dialogue within BiH, can significantly contribute to reaching consensus on all vital issues.

He also referred to the foreign policy aspect of building and nurturing friendly and good-neighborly relations with countries in the immediate vicinity, which, along with internal consolidation, is another important prerequisite for preserving regional stability.

He emphasized that among the states and peoples who share this space, it is necessary to develop mutual respect, solidarity, and common gathering around European political values.
