Čović on postponing the session: Laws will be adopted, we promised Plenković, in the troika we no longer have the necessary scope

(Patria) - An emergency session of the House of Representatives of the BiH PA, where two laws - on border control and personal data protection - are to be adopted, has been scheduled for Thursday, January 23, and after the emergency session, a regular session of this house will be held. The emergency session, which was supposed to be held on January 16, was postponed for seven days, and the speaker of the house, Denis Zvizdić, did not explain why the session was postponed.

A session of the House of Peoples of the BiH PA has not yet been scheduled, and the president of HDZ BiH and member of the Collegium of the House of Peoples of the BiH PA, Dragan Čović, commented on the entire situation regarding the postponement of this session.

"The laws will be adopted. The agreement was to adopt the budget and key laws before Christmas. However, relations in the Sarajevo-Banja Luka and Mostar partnerships, conditionally, that is, among the representatives of the three peoples, led to the laws being removed from the agenda. We had an agreement to finish this and immediately schedule the House of Peoples and have it behind us," he said.

He emphasized that the Law on Courts of BiH and the Law on the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council also remain to be adopted.

"We also promised the Prime Minister of Croatia, Andrej Plenković, that we would bring these laws to the agenda so that we could start the negotiation process with the European Union in March. Unfortunately, the relations that you can follow in the media, when it comes to the troika, you see that we no longer have the necessary scope, except when Bosniak interests align, then everyone is together. I fear that we have a problem now. Initiatives for the dismissal of ministers have started, and it is up to us now to make a step forward, and I would say to use this political knowledge to bring the partners back to the table and finish this job," Čović said.
