Čović announces arrival of Varhelyi next week: I have no doubt that Vukoja will be completed tomorrow

(Patria) - President of HDZ BiH Dragan Čović announced the arrival of EU Enlargement Commissioner Oliver Varhelyi and other European Union officials in Sarajevo for next Monday, 3 June. Earlier, Čović announced the arrival of Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia Andrej Plenković in Mostar on the same day for a HDZ ceremony.

A joint meeting with leaders of political parties is expected to be held in Sarajevo.

"We took this week to try to organize a meeting of all party presidents who jointly participate in the government to see how to manage these processes. Namely, if we are unable to establish a normal working regime in the Council of Ministers, the House of Peoples, and the House of Representatives, then our initiatives are in vain because without that nothing can pass," he said at today's press conference.

Speaking about the proposal for the Budget of BiH institutions, Čović said that the sooner it is adopted, the more relaxed the situation will be for all of us.

"The other side of the coin is these funds that would come from the European Union. I fear that without a budget we will not be able to manage those funds," said Čović.

He stated that the partnership of parties at the state level still formally exists, but the effect of joint work has not been seen since March, when the European Union's decision on accession negotiations was eagerly awaited.

"Likewise, I am convinced that we have no choice but to try to find solutions. There is evidently a crisis in the continuity of the functioning of the political agreement. After all, you can see what the communication between party presidents is like in the airwaves, and it is up to us to continue trying to encourage. I have always said that we are the connective tissue, speaking on behalf of the HNS and HDZ, in the negotiation processes, and how successful we will be remains to be seen," he stated.

Asked by journalists about the possible appointment of Marin Vukoja at tomorrow's session of the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament and the objections of the opposition, Čović said they have the right to object, but also that the government has responsibility.

"I have no doubt that this will be completed tomorrow regardless of the appeals for temporary measures," concluded Čović.

He said they have been waiting for this appointment for 16 months.

He announced that the management structures of Radio-Television of FBiH will also be elected at tomorrow's session.
