Čović announces unblocking of the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly and adoption of over 100 items

(Patria) - Dragan Čović has taken over the position of Chairman of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina as of today. During a coffee with journalists, he announced a plan to unblock this House.

He announced the next session of the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly for June 30 with around 100 items on the agenda.

"At that session, all agreements, all reports, all appointments and initiatives that are not disputed by any office would be included, and there are approximately one hundred such items," he said.

According to his announcements, this could be a working summer, given that he also announced a session for July where laws that are not subject to political disputes would be addressed.

"If we were to finish this in this way, we would have only about twenty percent of the 164 materials currently in procedure that would not be completed," he stated.

He also announced special sessions dedicated to Bosnia and Herzegovina's European path, where the Law on the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council and the Law on the Court of BiH would be discussed. However, it is unclear which laws Čović is referring to, given that they have not been adopted by the Council of Ministers of BiH, and those proposed by representatives and delegates do not have the necessary support.

Speaking about Bosnia and Herzegovina's European path, Čović assessed that the country has lost the momentum it had two years ago.

"The fact is that no one in Brussels has been thinking about Bosnia and Herzegovina for the last year and a half."

He added that BiH has lost the attention of European institutions due to the lack of reforms and political agreements.

"We will remain a black hole because a path will be created for Montenegro, for Albania and other countries in the region, while we will remain where we are," he warned.
