Čović: HDZ would support postponing Local Elections next year

Chairman of the BiH Presidency Dragan Čović held a press conference today where he stated that a positive atmosphere is currently felt in BiH, reports a reporter from the Patria news agency.

- I am sure that BiH will have real prerequisites in December to submit an application for EU membership - Čović emphasized.

He reminded that discussions about amendments to the Election Law are intensive these days and that by New Year, we should have a framework solution for this law, which is one of the key problems in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

- Once the issue of the Election Law is resolved, I am sure that things will be much more relaxed, which will also be reflected in progress in other areas of the country - Čović added.

The leader of HDZ BiH also said that they have tasked representatives of the City of Mostar to propose possible solutions for the elections in Mostar by New Year. Responding to questions that there is increasingly talk about the possible cancellation of local elections next year, Čović said that this would suit HDZ, and agreed that the situation in BiH is such that elections are held almost every year in the country, writes NAP.
