Čović: The time has come to change the BiH Election Law

(Patria) - Citizens can sleep soundly, we will not allow anyone to endanger security in BiH, stated the President of HDZ BiH Dragan Čović in Sarajevo today.

Čović addressed the media after the conclusion of a meeting between HDZ, the Trojka (SDP, NiP, and NS), and the opposition from RS (SDS, PDP, and For Justice and Order), where the establishment of new government at the BiH level was discussed.

He emphasized that the time has come to change the BiH Election Law.

- There is no more time. The Bosniak people will have the right to elect, but leave that right to the Croat people as well.

As far as I'm concerned, what we agreed on to work on peacefully is not simple, what we agreed on to work on the European path is not simple.

We are trying to find a solution now - stated Čović, adding that everything can get complicated again in Parliament.

- Now you have two Bosniak members of the Presidency who are blocking the budget. We can remove the basic principles regarding the EU in the next two weeks. Then Parliament should be in permanent session.

Partners from FBiH need to understand that everything is in their hands today, and the responsibility for BiH, not to learn from the media who they will nominate for minister, to say an agreement will be signed, and we don't even have the outlines - Čović points out.

He assessed that today's meeting was pleasant, but that there were too many of them.

- We will have to resolve some things within FBiH. And all those who swear that it is not right for Bosniaks to elect a member of the Presidency for Croats, they will have to prove it in practice. And this is not a condition for anyone - Čović states.

When asked by journalists if SNSD is still his partner, he replied:

"We have the reality of the results of the last elections. We have to create a situation in which we can implement what we agree on. The House of Peoples has its structure.

It is up to us that all those who need to give us their vote are sitting there. Without that, we have sessions without a quorum and you cannot make decisions.

Many wrong moves were made through our partnership in the past two months. A message to those who sat with us until yesterday - there is no undermining of BiH institutions. We are not prepared to follow such processes."
