Čović confirmed today: BiH Presidency will submit the application for EU membership on February 15 after all

Dragan Čović, Chairman of the BiH Presidency, confirmed today that the application for EU membership will be submitted on February 15, and the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina will hand over the application to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Bert Koenders, writes the BiH news agency Patria.

By then, the Coordination Mechanism needs to be adopted, which is now before the BiH Council of Ministers.

Čović also commented on the arrest of Fahrudin Radončić, the president of SBB, whom he supported.

- It is important to say that neither I nor any of us, who have been talking for the last few hours, are influencing or pressuring anyone in any way. We do not want to influence anyone. He was detained because someone assessed that he influenced witnesses. It would be irresponsible for me not to say what I think when it comes to some process. The fact is that Radončić warned several of us colleagues a few evenings ago that this would happen. I am an advocate of a very clear stance that we do not have an organized legal state, and we must not hide that. Everything is better than anarchy; we have what we have, and we must respect the decisions of our institutions - Čović said.

Čović said that representatives of European institutions are certainly following the developments in BiH, and that the arrest of a political leader casts a special light on the political situation in BiH.
