(Patria) - HDZ BiH President Dragan Čović did not share the elation and optimism he is known for today when it comes to BiH's European path. Although he likes to say that he and his party are "bearers of European values", today's reaction to the European Commission's report on BiH was merely courteous.
"The EC recommended that the EU open negotiations with BiH once the necessary level of alignment is achieved. Deeply committed to the EU future of our homeland BiH, we will continue to work hard towards this goal. We thank all EU partners who have provided support," Čović wrote on X.
Our Party also made a statement, saying they are working intensively for Bosnia and Herzegovina to open negotiations for accession to the European Union and thus secure a European perspective for our country.
"Today's message from Brussels is unambiguous – the European Union has recognized and clearly identified the progress we have made in this mandate, but at the same time, it has unambiguously pointed to the anti-constitutional actions of RS as the key obstacle for Bosnia and Herzegovina on its European path. We have the greatest chance so far on the European path, and for the transition from Dayton to Brussels BiH.
Our Party will invest all its efforts in adopting the key laws from the 14 priorities, and on the international stage, it will lead a diplomatic battle for Bosnia and Herzegovina to take a historic step towards Europe in March. Because our citizens are Europeans and deserve to live according to European standards.”
