Čović: RS activities deviate from BiH Constitution, institutions must be respected, no anarchy allowed

(Patria) - The Coordination of Mayors and Presidents of Cantonal Governments of HDZ BiH was held today in Međugorje, attended by officials of that party in executive and legislative bodies at all levels of government in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as guests from the Republic of Croatia, ministers in the Croatian Government, Oleg Butković and Radovan Fuchs.

As the leader of HDZ BiH, Dragan Čović, told reporters after the Coordination, at this rather substantive meeting compared to previous ones, an assessment of the current political moment was given through an analysis presented by the Chairperson of the Council of Ministers of BiH, Borjana Krišto, "that it is challenging, demanding, but equally that the capacity we are building into the institutions of BiH will ensure peace, stability, our European path, and of course, the equal rights of the three constituent peoples".

When asked if he believes the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, has crossed the red line, how to respond to the complex situation, and what his first step will be in the coming days, Čović said that there should be no insecurity in BiH.

"We are making a maximum contribution to this with our partners, secondly, our Euro-Atlantic path must be clear, and thirdly, the internal relations in BiH, the constitutional equality of the three constituent peoples, and that is the point. We are working on this with partners, whoever understands this will be a partner of HDZ BiH, both in five days and for the next year and a half until the next general elections. I think the situation that is currently happening in the territory of Republika Srpska and the activities that have started and how they have started deviate significantly from the Constitution of BiH, and from that perspective, I think I have said everything. Everything must be within the framework of the BiH Constitution, BiH institutions must be respected, regardless of how dysfunctional they may sometimes be, and I personally say so, but these are institutions that must be respected. The people working there may not be the best, but we must respect and value them, regardless of whether it is the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, the Court of BiH, so from that perspective, the message is clear - Bosnia and Herzegovina must not experience any form of anarchy, and we will not allow it. All partners who want to build this concept of Bosnia and Herzegovina are partners of HDZ BiH," Čović stated.

He emphasized that "until the key political moment is resolved, we will pause a bit regarding personnel appointments".
