Čović: If Trump says Greenland is interesting to him, even by force if necessary, that encourages others to think about force

(Patria) - HDZ BiH President Dragan Čović said today that political agreement remains the only correct path for solutions in BiH and that all problems are resolved peacefully.

"Those who ask us what happened from Kupres to today, Kupres happened. We were all at that Kupres, but people must keep their word. They must be fair, professionals, I asked for that then. Those who call for various interventions from outside, if the President of America can say that Greenland is interesting to him, even by force if necessary, that encourages others to think about force. However, we in BiH should protect ourselves exclusively through political agreement and decisions of all holders of power, executive and legislative in BiH. Friends from the international community are welcome and should help us, but never make decisions on our behalf, whether it is about the High Representative or someone else, it is all the same," said Čović.

Čović did not want to comment on the statements of the President of the List for Justice and Order, Nebojša Vukanović, who announced that "in the event of a continuation of the political blockade of the HDZ, an initiative could be launched to remove the Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers of BiH, Borjana Krišto."

"I have absolutely no comment for anyone from that opposition group that was in Kupres. They have their own policy, they do what they think is best to do. Ours is to protect the position of the Croatian people and Bosnia and Herzegovina through that. They had the opportunity after the talks in Kupres to implement this, it is clear that they did not implement it and that is how it is," said the HDZ leader.

Speaking about the claims that the report of the High Representative Christian Schmidt mentions the marginalization of Bosniaks, especially in Mostar, Čović said that he has not read the report and will not comment on it until he does.

"If we do anything correctly, we do it so that in areas where representatives of Croats can make decisions or make decisions, we take care that no one feels marginalized, especially not Bosniaks in the city of Mostar," said Čović.

He added that he hopes Schmidt's report lists all the challenges facing BiH.

"Both those who want to create a unitary space within BiH through citizenship and those who would like, due to fear of that unitarism, to in some way divide BiH. BiH is indivisible, it will remain so, and we must fight to build an environment of trust among both Bosniaks and Serbs so that through our agreement, what we can, we change in the Constitution, and until then ensure what is in the Constitution, completely transparent representation of one, the other or the third people. The High Representative has the right to his own view, but he will get an answer if they are something that does not reflect the situation in BiH in the current political moment," said Čović.
