Cormack: In diplomatic service since 1989

US Ambassador Maureen Cormack arrived in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina today. She previously served in Washington as an executive assistant in the Office of the Special Envoy for the Presidential Global Coalition to Counter ISIL, reports the Patria News Agency.

Cormack also served as the first Deputy Coordinator of the Bureau of International Information Programs, and as an executive assistant in the Bureau of Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs.

Previously, she held the position of Director of the Office of Western European Affairs and Deputy Director for Korean Affairs. She also served as a press officer at the US Embassy in Seoul, Korea, and as Deputy Cultural Attaché at the US Embassy in Paris.

Ambassador Cormack has been in the diplomatic service since 1989 and, at the very beginning, she was the director of the American Centers in Gwangju, South Korea, and Warsaw, Poland.

Before entering diplomacy, Cormack worked for the Ravinia Festival, the summer home of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, in fundraising, public relations, and artistic management. She also worked for several law firms.

 Cormack speaks fluent French and is learning Bosnian, Polish, Korean, and Spanish.
