Cormack: I am overjoyed to have arrived in BiH, I can't wait for my first day of work

The new US Ambassador to BiH Maureen Cormack arrived in Bosnia and Herzegovina today accompanied by her husband and daughter, writes the Patria News Agency.

In her first statement to BiH media, given at Sarajevo Airport immediately upon arrival, she said that she had been waiting for this moment for a very long time and that she was overjoyed that it had happened.

She also said that she had held consultations in Brussels so that she could join Bosnia and Herzegovina's fight on its path towards Euro-Atlantic integration.

- I can't wait to meet as many people in BiH as possible. I must, of course, also highlight the notable role of our Chargé d'Affaires Nicholas Hill, who did a great job in your country over 18 months. 

From what I hear, students in your country are still on summer vacation, but my vacation is over. I can't wait for morning and my first day of work, she said. 

She announced that she would start her duties as the US Ambassador to BiH as early as tomorrow.

- At the swearing-in ceremony at the State Department, Deputy Secretary of State Pat Kennedy spoke about the deep historical and unique ties that the US and BiH have. I am very much looking forward to and proud to be able to work on further deepening and improving these ties – she said.
