Ćorluka: I had no right to turn my back on the people

I have no experience in politics and I did not want to join the Management Board of the Fund for Assistance to Affected Areas. Besides, I have a lot of work at „Violeta“. However, when I thought about it, I realised that I have no right to turn my back on the people now when every help is needed, said the owner of „Violeta“, Petar Ćorluka, for the Patria news agency (NAP).

The Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina established the Federal Fund for Assistance to Areas Affected by Natural Disaster on the territory of the Federation of BiH, into which more than 4 million KM has been paid so far.

This Fund will be managed by the Management Board of the Fund, which consists of three businessmen Safudin Čengić, Petar Ćorluka and Zehra Obralija, and federal ministers Adil Osmanović, Enver Bijedić, Desnica Radivojević, Jerko Ivanković Lijanović, Erdal Trhulj, and the Mayor of Maglaj Municipality Mehmed Mustabašić on behalf of the Association of Municipalities and Cities of the FBiH and the Vice President of the Union of Independent Trade Unions of BiH Sinan Husić, NAP writes.

The Chairman of the Management Board is, ex officio, the Prime Minister of the FBiH Nermin Nikšić. The first meeting of the Management Board of the Fund is tomorrow.

- We no longer have time to wait. Autumn is coming, people need to have a roof over their heads. I will ask the members of the Fund, as well as other competent institutions, to start solving people's housing issues urgently – further warned one of the largest businessmen in BiH.

- In my company, sometimes it takes only a few hours from idea to realisation. I will demand the same approach in the case of flooded areas. People do not have time to wait – says Ćorluka for Patria.

The Bosnian-Herzegovinian company „Violeta“ during the floods that hit BiH, Serbia and Croatia in May this year, secured funds for the flooded areas in the amount of one million KM, which were directed to the affected areas of these three countries, NAP writes.
