Stray pack still in front of Biseri kindergarten, dead dog lies near Trešnjica in Vogošća

The problem of an excessive number of stray dogs continues to pressure Sarajevo, writes BH news agency Patria. Children are the most vulnerable. Dogs enter the yards of schools and kindergartens.

This is not only a danger of potential dog attacks; a much bigger problem is the infection these dogs spread around the city, experts from the Veterinary Faculty in Sarajevo warned for Patria.

In the last six months alone, two attacks by stray dogs on employees of the „Biseri“ kindergarten in the Sarajevo neighborhood of Kovači have been recorded. In photographs sent to the Patria editorial office by readers, aggressive dogs can still be seen roaming around that kindergarten. Another reader photographed a dead dog on Friday, whose body lay in front of the „Trešnjica“ kindergarten in Vogošća.

According to unofficial statistics, more than 11,000 dogs roam the streets of Sarajevo. Although the hygiene service Lokom is working intensively to remove dogs from the streets, their number is still concerning. In 2014, nearly 1,000 dog attacks on citizens were recorded in Sarajevo, writes NAP.
