Čolo: There was no talk of political changes to the electoral legislation

(Patria) - Without the integrity of the electoral process, there are no subsequent elections; that is a sine qua non, said Alma Čolo (SDA) after the session of the Interest Working Group, which, as she stated, was attended by representatives from the Republika Srpska.

Čolo said she is not sure that the HDZ BiH would agree to such changes, nor would the ruling parties from Republika Srpska.

“I think HDZ will not agree to that without agreeing to constituent representation. If political agreements are reached regarding the rulings of the Court in Strasbourg and the Constitutional Court, it would be easier to agree on the integrity package of the electoral process,” said Čolo, adding that today there was no talk of political changes to the electoral legislation.

There is no time; in February, they should adopt the changes if the next elections are to be called under the new Law. This will allow for the adoption of additional acts, as well as ensuring technical conditions, said Čolo, as reported by N1.

Commenting on the technical changes that were on the agenda, Branislav Borenović (PDP) said that the most significant fact for him is the improvement of the work of polling boards, and the reduction of the possibility for phantom political entities to occupy seats in polling boards.

However, Borenović is not sure whether these changes will receive majority support.

“The ruling majority is waiting and watching, they are waiting for the signal from party leaders,” said Borenović, adding that the technical dimension is the essence for him, and that while waiting for the political dimension, these issues should be resolved.

The first man of the PDP commented on the return of RS politicians to the institutions of BiH, saying that in the next few days it will be seen what the result of the five-month political activity was.

“I think we should seek to overcome the imposed Inzko decision in order to resolve the situation in BiH,” said Borenović.

However, he is not sure how this will be resolved when it comes to politicians from RS.

“I have no invitation, there is no agenda, it is not known what will be discussed. It is a ho-ruk, ad hoc policy,” said Borenović, adding that it is not known what will happen next week.

Finally, Borenović emphasizes that many special, joint sessions have been announced, so that even the most skilled politician in the country cannot find their way around them.
