Members of the BiH Presidency with Religious Leaders

Members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina met today with representatives of the three largest religious communities in BiH, Reis-ul-ulema Husein ef. Kavazović, Bishop of Zahumlje-Herzegovina and Littoral Grigorije, and Archbishop of Vrhbosna Cardinal Vinko Puljić, the BiH Presidency announced, reports the Patria agency.

Representatives of the religious communities thanked for the organization of this meeting and expressed satisfaction that a dialogue is being opened with religious communities on issues that are important to them, but also to society as a whole.

The meeting discussed topics related to the position and rights of religious communities, the status of religious officials, legal regulation of religious holidays, property restitution issues, as well as the overall state of relations between the state and religious communities. One of the topics of the meeting was the contractual regulation of BiH's relations with religious communities.

The participants of the meeting paid special attention to the need to strengthen trust between the peoples and citizens of BiH, members of various religious communities, and to the steps that representatives of authorities in BiH and religious communities can take to strengthen that trust. In this context, concrete steps and activities to be implemented in the coming period were also discussed.

It was concluded that joint work on strengthening trust and achieving compromise should send a clear message to the peoples in BiH and contribute to the improvement of the general situation in BiH.
