Members of the BiH Presidency held a meeting with Escobar and Makovec

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina held a meeting with the Director/Deputy Executive Director for Western Europe, the Western Balkans, Turkey and the United Kingdom at the European External Action Service (EEAS) Marko Makovec and the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State of the United States and Special Envoy for the Western Balkans Gabriel Escobar.

Messages from EU and US officials were reiterated, expressing continued interest in BiH and commitment to EU enlargement to the Western Balkans, and that open talks should lead towards the functioning of BiH institutions and the continuation of constructive dialogue on fulfilling reforms on the EU path.

BiH should achieve its European perspective through reform processes that would meet international and European standards, and on that path it is necessary to strengthen regional cooperation to which BiH makes a significant contribution, it was said at the meeting. Work should continue on improving the economic situation and seizing the opportunity provided by the European Investment Plan for the Western Balkans.

The meeting was also attended by the Head of the EU Delegation and EU Special Representative in BiH, Ambassador Johann Sattler, and the US Ambassador to BiH, Eric Nelson.
