Members of the BiH Presidency at dinner with Daul: Today meetings with the leader of the European People's Party

BRUSSELS, (Patria) - A joint dinner of Dragan Čović, Bakir Izetbegović and Mladen Ivanić with the President of the European People's Party, Joseph Daul, was held last night, and today the BiH leaders will hold individual talks with the leader of the European People's Party.

"Amendments to the Election Law - key for the European future of BiH," stated on the official Twitter account of the Chairman of the BiH Presidency, Dragan Čović.

The three-member BiH Presidency traveled to Brussels on Wednesday, where they will meet with the President of the European People's Party and EU officials. The main topic will be amendments to the BiH Election Law.

The Chairman of the BiH Presidency and leader of the HDZ BiH, Dragan Čović, said that everyone will present their proposals and try to find a compromise, if it is at all possible.

"I will remain optimistic, and as long as there is a chance, we should do everything to define, through legal amendments, the method of electing members of the BiH Presidency and the House of Peoples, as well as the authorities in the City of Mostar, and then calmly await the elections and the implementation of election results," Čović stated.

He said that talks in Brussels will also cover BiH's European path. He reminded that the President of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, is coming to BiH on February 28.

"I believe that this is perhaps the last chance to formally hand over the answers to the European Commission's Questionnaire at that time and thus create an atmosphere in which we can hope for candidate status, because I am convinced that we have a chance, due to changes in the EU, to be in the same package with the other four countries being discussed – Albania, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia. But for that, we must work more and certainly do everything to bring about amendments to the Election Law so that we do not enter a greater crisis than the one we have," Čović stated, as reported by N1.
