CEC members with Schmidt: Ensure financial resources for elections

(Patria) - The President of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željko Bakalar and members of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina held an online meeting today with the High Representative of the international community in Bosnia and Herzegovina Christian Schmidt.

This was the first meeting of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina with Schmidt since he assumed the position of High Representative of the international community in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The meeting discussed the activities carried out by the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina in organizing the 2022 General Elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with emphasis on the fact that the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina has still not been provided with financial resources for exercising its powers, which include the organization and conduct of the General Elections. Also discussed was the handling of other competent institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina in securing election financing in accordance with the provisions of the Election Law of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Law on Financing Institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The activities that the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina has carried out and continues to carry out with the aim of strengthening the integrity, transparency and efficiency of the electoral process in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and fulfilling the relevant recommendations of the OSCE/ODIHR and the Venice Commission, as well as the contribution of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the reform of electoral legislation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, were highlighted.
