Members of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina again on the list of the top 2% of scientists globally by citation impact

(Patria) - One of the world's largest publishers of scientific literature, ELSEVIER BV, published an updated list on September 16, 2024.
year of the top 2% of scientists globally by citation impact throughout their entire career and
during 2023. The list is based on a scientific analysis of data available in Elsevier's citation and
bibliographic database SCOPUS.

The available database contains standardized information on citations, h-index, co-authorship-adjusted hm-index, citations of articles in different author positions in the analyzed article, and a composite citation impact indicator. Scientists are classified into 22 scientific fields and 174 scientific branches. For all scientists who have published at least 5 papers, field-specific and branch-specific percentages are also provided. The selection is based on the top 100,000 by c-score (with and without self-citations) or on the 2% percentile rank of the most cited.

The current list of scientists among the top 2% globally by citation impact, both in their careers and for 2023, includes 17 members of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina:

The original study, published in 2020, states that the citation impact of world scientists is often misinterpreted, and to achieve maximum objectivity, they created a publicly available database with over 100,000 leading scientists worldwide, where using artificial intelligence principles for algorithm design, they considered a range of parameters important for the objective evaluation of each individual scientist. Likewise, the importance of distinguishing between the number of citations and the impact of citations is particularly emphasized. The methodology used during the compilation of the list of scientists with the highest citation impact was published in the scientific journal Plos Biology in 2020.
