BiH Presidency Member Željko Komšić Congratulated 15 April – Day of the Army of the Republic of BiH

(Patria) - Member of the Presidency of BiH Željko Komšić congratulated all Bosnians and Herzegovinians on 15 April - Day of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In a written statement to the media, he said that the Army of the Republic of BiH emerged as a necessary need for organised resistance against the aggression on Bosnia and Herzegovina, carried out by neighbouring countries.

"It was the only legal and legitimate military formation that defended the constitutional order of the Republic of BiH. Through its struggle, it retained its multi-ethnic and anti-fascist character. In the face of the onslaught of barbarism and crime marked by ethnic cleansing and genocide, the Army of the Republic of BiH fought simultaneously for civilisational values, respecting what is written in the charters and conventions of the United Nations, and it is most deserving for the survival of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina," said Komšić. 

On this day, Komšić said, we should remember all those members of the Army of the Republic of BiH who, as he emphasised, defending their country, gave the most they could for it.

"They gave their lives, so that we, today, in peace, could continue the struggle for the survival of the state. A state whose integrity and sovereignty some still call into question, and those are the ones whom the fighters of the Army of the Republic of BiH stood in the way of. Their struggle and sacrifice oblige us to persevere in that struggle. That is our debt to them, who unfortunately are no longer with us, but also to future generations," Komšić stated.
