Anonymous member: Bosnian hacker has so far taken down nearly 400 ISIL Twitter accounts

Hackers from Bosnia and Herzegovina, who are members of the international hacker group Anonymous, have taken down nearly 400 Twitter accounts linked to members of the self-proclaimed Islamic State (ISIL).

One of the Bosnian hackers provided the Bosnian news agency Patria with a list of nearly 400 Twitter accounts that he took down in the last 24 hours, which could be linked to ISIL members.

- I am a Muslim, and what these ISIL criminals are doing has nothing to do with my faith; they only harm Islam and Muslims – said the hacker, who signs as Bosnian Root.

- That is why I decided to support Anonymous's fight against this infamous entity – he added.

Anonymous was recently considered a cyber threat, but the hackers have begun fighting ISIL by forwarding information about militants to authorities and journalists. The editorial office of The Independent stated that they received personal data from hackers about a man who recruits people in Europe and sends them to war in Syria.

After the attack on the Charlie Hebdo editorial office, Anonymous became active in the fight against terrorists, and intensified their fight after terrorists killed nearly 130 and wounded hundreds of people in Paris last Friday.

- So far, we have taken down about 5,000 Twitter accounts and hundreds of websites that were in any way linked to ISIL. We are currently working on taking down about 10,000 Twitter accounts, which we also believe are used by terrorists or their associates – said the Bosnian member of Anonymous, Bosnian Root.

ISIL uses social networks and various internet channels to recruit new terrorists, as well as a medium through which they send messages to the world that they are a very dangerous and infamous army. ISIL terrorists record brutal murders and then publish them online. These are most often brutal murders that send chills down the spines of citizens around the world, writes Patria.
