Civil Protection Warned: Prepare for Heavy Snowfall

The Cantonal Civil Protection Administration of Sarajevo Canton issued a warning to citizens, urging them to immediately prepare for the upcoming weather difficulties, reports the Patria news agency

- Given that in the coming period, according to weather forecasts from some meteorological stations, heavier snowfall is expected, which will affect certain areas of the Balkan Peninsula, we warn all legal and natural persons to IMMEDIATELY, in accordance with their competencies and obligations, take the necessary preventive measures for protection against snowfall – said the Civil Protection.

This includes preparing adequate forces and material-technical resources for a rapid response to the announced snowfall, as this will create the prerequisites for more efficient and faster reactions of all subjects of the protection and rescue system in a comprehensive response to all future potential challenges and threats, thereby avoiding major material damage, as well as numerous injuries and human casualties.

- Bearing in mind that, according to the mentioned forecasts, a large snow cover is expected, which can cause the most problems in traffic, we especially appeal to the competent authorities in the municipalities and the Canton to check the readiness of legal entities with which they have signed contracts for winter road maintenance, whether they have a sufficient number of machines and other resources to react in time to potentially possible heavier snowfall – added the Civil Protection.
