Civil Protection KS: Prepare for new rainfall

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Operational Center of the Cantonal Administration of Civil Protection of Sarajevo Canton has issued recommendations to legal and natural persons for taking preventive protection and rescue measures against floods.

As they state, considering that in the upcoming period - November 8 and 9, 2021, according to weather forecasts from the Federal Hydrometeorological Institute, rainfall is expected in the area of Sarajevo Canton, which may further complicate the current situation, it is recommended that all legal and natural persons, immediately in accordance with their competencies, as well as obligations, which are prescribed to them by the Law on Protection and Rescue of People and Property from Natural and Other Disasters, take the necessary preventive measures to protect against rainfall, and prepare adequate forces and material-technical resources for a rapid response to the announced rainfall.

In this way, as further stated by the Operational Center of KUCZ, conditions will be created for a more efficient and faster response of all subjects of the protection and rescue system in a comprehensive response to potential challenges and threats from floods, and thus significant material damage, as well as possible injuries and human casualties will be avoided.

"We especially appeal to the municipal civil protection services from the area of Sarajevo Canton to immediately put their organized protection and rescue forces on alert, so that they are ready as first response forces, to react in accordance with their competencies and obligations according to protection and rescue plans to potentially possible heavy rainfall in the area of their municipalities," emphasize the Operational Center of the Cantonal Administration of Civil Protection.
