CIN: Nenad Nešić omitted part of his assets

(Patria) - Nenad Nešić, president of the Democratic National Alliance (DNS) and a representative in the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, owns apartments in Serbia and Montenegro, a family house with land in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and a company in East Sarajevo that he did not declare in his asset declaration to the Central Election Commission (CEC), writes the Center for Investigative Journalism (CIN).

Nešić was elected as a state representative in the 2018 General Elections and at that time declared in his asset declaration that he and his wife Maja own an apartment in Novi Sad and a 56-square-meter apartment on the Montenegrin coast in Budva.

His wife also owns 10 dunams of land in Serbia, while Nešić, together with his brother Predrag, owns a house with 45 dunams of land in East Sarajevo. In his 2018 asset declaration, he omitted to declare the company “N-Group”, which he founded two years earlier.

“I submitted my declaration to the BiH Parliament, it is available, and I have nothing more to say about it,” said Nenad Nešić, refusing to speak with CIN journalists.

Nenad is not the only member of the Nešić family who has won mandates in elections and was dishonest when filling out their asset declarations, CIN further writes.

His father, Rade, was elected in 2016 as a member of the DNS to the Assembly of the Municipality of Istočno Novo Sarajevo. Although the elder Nešić submitted an empty asset declaration to the CEC at the time, CIN journalists found that he is also the owner of the company “Dar-Company”.

The elder Nešić was replaced in the assembly seats in 2020 by his other son, Predrag, when he was elected as a councilor, also representing the DNS.

Predrag Nešić declared assets worth 8.5 million KM in his asset declaration. This includes two cars worth 200,000 KM, two apartments worth 240,000 KM, and the company “N Trade”. Predrag is also the director of the company “Energoinvest-automatika”. His wife Sunčica owns an apartment in Novi Sad.

CIN discovered that Predrag Nešić bought an apartment and a garage in Budva in 2019 for 86,800 euros, which he did not report to the CEC, nor did he report owning commercial property and land in East Sarajevo, and land in Trnovo. He told journalists that he was not in a position to talk at the moment.

According to the Election Law of BiH, candidates and elected officials are obliged to report their income from the previous year and their assets and those of their immediate family members worth more than 5,000 KM to the CEC. The CEC does not verify the content of asset declarations, nor are there any sanctions for incomplete or false asset reporting.

Nenad Nešić has been a member of the DNS since 2014, and before becoming party president in 2020, he held several party positions. He was a member of the Main Board and Presidency of the DNS, as well as president of the Regional Board Sarajevo – Romanija and the Municipal Board Istočno Novo Sarajevo of this party.

This law graduate worked as a criminal police inspector at the Public Security Center East Sarajevo from 2007 to 2014. He served as acting director of the Public Enterprise “Roads of Republika Srpska” from 2016 to 2020. In the last general elections in 2018, he was elected to the state Parliament. His income in November 2021, including salary, warm meal allowance, and per diem, amounted to 5,206 KM.
