Čilić can be congratulated, Peranović and Redžić cannot!

Bosnia and Herzegovina athletes who competed at the Special Olympics in Antwerp, Belgium, have won gold medals. After Irmela Peranović won first place in swimming in the 25m freestyle, today athlete Mersad Redžić won the 100-meter race. He ran this distance in 14 seconds and 34 hundredths, writes the BiH news agency Patria.

However, congratulations from BiH officials were absent in this case. And we will recall that just a few days ago, congratulations poured in for Croatian tennis player Marin Čilić on winning the US Open. One of the congratulations was from the Chairman of the Presidency of BiH, Bakir Izetbegović, and many particularly emphasized his BiH origins instead of being ashamed of the shameful attitude towards numerous other Čilićs, and there were many of them...

- Your triumph also delighted your numerous fans and citizens in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This is another confirmation that Bosnia and Herzegovina is an inexhaustible source of sports talents and a country where numerous champions in individual and team sports were born. I wish you much personal happiness, health, and sports success – it was written in Izetbegović's congratulatory message to Čilić.

Given that Čilić wins medals under the flag of our neighboring Republic of Croatia, although he was born in BiH, this attitude of politicians towards BiH athletes, who are the best ambassadors of our country wherever they go, is even more surprising. We remind you that at Čilić's reception in Međugorje, Marko Perković Thompson, known for his closeness to HSP and Ustasha and nationalist songs, performed. Leaders of HDZ BiH attended the reception, and the Prime Minister of BiH, Vjekoslav Bevanda, as he said, "joyfully accepted the company".

And instead of our politicians turning to BiH, even in this pre-election period, they are doing the opposite. Therefore, the Patria agency reminds all BiH politicians that in Belgium, there are nine of our athletes competing against 2,000 participants from 57 countries worldwide: Nihada Buljubašić (100m and 200m disciplines), Kristina Klačar (long jump and 200m), Admir Aščerić (200m and 400m), and Mersad Redžić (100m and 200m), in swimming Irmela Peranović (25m breaststroke and 25m freestyle), Vedrana Nović (25m freestyle, 50m freestyle), Miro Vasić (25m freestyle and 50m freestyle), Zlatan Horo (200m freestyle and 400m), while Irma Juhić (singles and mixed doubles), Damir Rimac (mixed doubles) will compete in table tennis.

Our BiH athletes alone have won three more medals, two silver and one bronze.
