CEC sets the date: Mayor of Old Town to be elected on October 29

(Patria) - The 59th session of the Central Election Commission (CEC) is being held today in Sarajevo, where, among other things, the date for the early elections for the mayor of the Old Town Municipality of Sarajevo has been defined.

Early elections in this Sarajevo municipality will be held on Sunday, October 29, 2023. The decision to call elections was supported by all members of the CEC, and this situation arose, let's recall, due to the recall of the long-serving mayor Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, who has been in custody since May this year.

The only one who has so far announced his candidacy for the future mayor of the Old Town municipality is SDP's Irfan Čengić, who is also supported by NiP and Our Party. Čengić's candidacy is also supported by the Democratic Front, SBB, as well as the local party Alliance for Old Town.

Candidacies can be submitted until September 19, 2023, until 4 PM.
