CEC starts receiving candidate lists today: Parties waiting for the last day to register

Political entities can submit candidate lists for the upcoming state elections to the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CEC) from today until July 14, writes the Patria News Agency. On the first day of submission, none of the political parties submitted their lists, confirmed for NAP from the CEC. 

- Most parties bring their candidate lists just before the deadline. This is how it is every year – says Maksida Pirić, spokesperson for the CEC.

Certified political parties and coalitions have the right to submit candidate lists. Pirić noted that the CEC has certified 65 political parties, 24 coalitions, and 24 independent candidates for participation in the October elections.

- The conditions that candidates must meet are prescribed by the Election Law of BiH. It is necessary for the candidate lists to be in accordance with the Election Law regarding gender representation – added Pirić. The CEC must certify the candidate lists by August 8.
