CEC to replace members of municipal election commissions, possible criminal liability

If criminal liability is proven against members of certain municipal election commissions due to inaccurate publication of data, the Central Election Commission will, after the announcement of official election results, file reports with the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Furthermore, at its first session after the announcement of results, the CEC will consider the responsibility of all members of polling boards and municipal election commissions who did not perform their duties in accordance with the law, and will fine them or replace them, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria.

Ten days after the General Elections, the counting of ballots will be repeated at as many as 48 polling stations. As we learn, this concerns inaccurate data entry or delays in data delivery, which also entails not only a new count but also sanctions.

The CEC has done its part and is working, but in the entire chain, certain municipal election commissions or members of polling boards have failed.

According to the Election Law, already counted ballots with completed forms must arrive at the Counting Center, and only the accuracy of the submitted data should be confirmed.

However, this time this was not done at as many as 48 locations. Who will be held accountable, and whether they will be, will be known in about 20 days, when the CEC reviews all irregularities that occurred at polling stations or in municipal election commissions.
