Christian Lueth expelled from AfD over Nazi rhetoric

(Patria) – The German right-wing party Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) has expelled senior official Christian Lueth from its ranks because he stated that migrants coming to the country should be 'shot or gassed'.

The far-right AfD party confirmed on Monday that his contract had been terminated.

Lueth was suspended from his position as parliamentary spokesperson in April when he called himself a 'fascist'.

The newspaper Die Zeit writes that his comments were secretly recorded by journalists while he was talking to a young blogger.

As the largest opposition party, the AfD is campaigning based on anti-migrant and anti-Islamic rhetoric, and has enjoyed growing support since migrants were allowed to enter Germany in 2015.

Lueth declined to comment, but announced that he plans to issue a press release on Tuesday.

The AfD is under increased scrutiny by the German intelligence service due to the increased extremist charge of certain party groups, which the party vehemently denies.

On Monday, the AfD disciplined another of its members - lawmaker Stefan Raepple, who called for the violent overthrow of the government, reports the British Guardian.
