"Charlie Hebdo" sold out in Paris, Prophet's caricature on the cover again

The first issue of the French satirical weekly “Charlie Hebdo” after last week’s attack on the newspaper’s editorial office was sold out very quickly today, as soon as it appeared on newsstands across France, reports the Patria News Agency.

-It’s unbelievable. There were between 60 and 70 people waiting in line for me to open,” said a newsstand vendor in Paris, AFP reported.

-I’ve never seen anything like it. All my 450 copies sold out in 15 minutes,” the vendor added.

The latest issue of “Charlie Hebdo” features a drawing of the Prophet Muhammad on the cover, crying and holding a sign that reads “I am Charlie”, with “All is forgiven” written below.

Three million copies were printed, seven days after the terrorist attack on the weekly’s editorial office in Paris, in which 12 people were killed, and the proceeds from the sale will go to the victims’ families.

The usual circulation until now was 60,000 copies.

The new issue, created by the surviving members of the editorial team, is available in 25 countries and in 16 languages.

The latest issue of the weekly has already angered some Muslim groups in some countries who oppose drawings of the Prophet.

The new issue was published at a time when the French government is preparing a new package of strict anti-terrorism measures, AP reported.

Brothers Said and Sherif Kouachi killed 12 people on January 7 in an attack on the “Charlie Hebdo” editorial office, including five of its best cartoonists and three editorial staff.

After the attack, they shouted that they had “avenged the Prophet Muhammad”.
