Vlakovo - Tarčin Road Open for Traffic from 6 AM

The newly built section from Vlakovo to Tarčin cost 20 million KM less, and as much as two-thirds of the total investment, or 200 million euros, went to Bosnian construction companies, stated the Director of JP Autoceste FBiH Ensad Karić, reports the reporter of the BiH news agency Patria.

The road will be opened for traffic tomorrow from 6 AM. Tolls on this part of the Corridor Vc highway will not be charged until further notice. A large number of journalists and officials attended this ceremony.

During the two years of construction, 60 BiH companies participated as subcontractors, and one-third of the work was done by the Turkish company Cengiz.

Karić said that the highway being built by Autoceste FBiH is the road of Bosnia and Herzegovina, not of any political party.

2,000 workers participated in the construction of the section, 20 kilometers of highway were built, of which 5.5 kilometers are tunnels and 1.5 kilometers are bridges.

The section represents one of the most demanding projects on Corridor 5c and consists of three subsections: Vlakovo – Lepenica (10.1 km), Lepenica – Suhodol (5.5 km), and Suhodol – Tarčin (4.6 km). Seven tunnels, seven bridges/viaducts, Vlakovo interchange, Vlakovo mainline toll plaza, Lepenica interchange, Mokrine rest area, and Tarčin interchange are projected on the mentioned section, reports Patria.

The Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nermin Nikšić, also addressed the attendees, stating that BiH construction companies have shown that they know how to build highways if given the opportunity.

On behalf of the contractors, Ekrem Cengiz also spoke, emphasizing that the greatest credit for today's highway opening goes to the authorized persons at JP Autoceste FBiH and the European Investment Bank, who decided to entrust the construction of this section to the company Cengiz Insaat.
