Cerar: Fence on the border is necessary, but temporary

Slovenian Prime Minister Miro Cerar stated on Monday that Slovenia will continue to erect a "fence to direct migrants" on its border with Croatia, that it is a temporary measure to prevent the uncontrolled influx of migrants along the Balkan refugee route, but that it will be removed as soon as the migrant-refugee crisis ends, reports the Patria News Agency.

The erection of a "directing fence", as Cerar calls it, is necessary in the current situation, claims the Slovenian Prime Minister, due to the alleged lack of solidarity shown by Greece, Macedonia, Serbia, and Croatia, which are located on the Balkan refugee route and are only letting migrants pass through, in the refugee crisis with Europe.

The daily entry of around 7,000 migrants into Slovenia, given its size, is equivalent to 300,000 refugees entering Germany in one day, Cerar said during a parliamentary debate, adding that this is too great a burden for the smallest country on the refugee route, writes Index.
