DF's Central Election Rally in Novi Grad: After Our Term, We Won't Lower Our Gaze Before Citizens

Tonight, in the crowded multimedia hall of the Municipality of Novi Grad, a central election rally was held, organized by the Municipal Board of the Democratic Front Novi Grad Sarajevo where a unified message was sent to the citizens of this municipality, which is to vote for those who can enable them a better and higher quality of life on October 2nd, reports Patria.

The candidate for the Mayor of the Municipality of Novi Grad Sarajevo, doc. dr. Goran Kovačević, in a very emotional speech, promised all those present that if he wins the elections, he will not allow himself to lower his gaze after four years, but rather wants to look all his voters straight in the eye and be remembered for his honesty.

- It is very difficult to speak in front of people you know, because in the end, you are the ones who can judge whether I am telling the truth or not. I have been a resident of the municipality of Novi Grad for 34 years, I have spent most of my life in Alipašino Polje in Phase A, now I am in Aerodromsko Naselje, but it is still Novi Grad. I am glad to see you in such large numbers. Thank you for nurturing our social democratic and liberal ideas, as our party is named.

What I want to tell you is that when I finish my term, I will not experience passing by you with my head bowed; I want to look you all in the eye, and for you to say that man was honest. I especially want to emphasize that I have been working on myself for 34 years, I have invested a lot of effort, nerves, and I have become a university professor, I am internationally known, but I want my birthplace to recognize me too – stated Kovačević.

He further said that he intends to make Novi Grad a world-class municipality together with the DF candidates for the Municipal Council, which will be an example not only in BiH, but that people from around the world will come to take ideas.

The rally was also addressed by the Vice President of the Federation of BiH, Milan Dunović, who explained why he is not a typical politician and why people should vote for the DF. He reminded those present that when the DF left power, none of the ministers left the party, which means that these people care about progress for everyone in BiH, not about positions.

Željko Komšić, the president of the DF, addressed those present via video link from Bihać and expressed his regret that he could not attend this rally.

- I regret that I cannot attend the central rally in Novi Grad, but that's how the campaign is, there are many places to visit in BiH. I would have really liked to be with our excellent people. You have an excellent candidate for mayor, excellent people on the list. Much awaits BiH after October 2nd, for the BiH they want, 20 years after the war, to divide. Dodik is organizing a referendum, these people are rattling their weapons, they want to create mega-cantons, which is a third entity. That is why it is important that you vote for the people in front of you, for the members of the DF, for prof. Goran Kovačević, whom we are proud of, for all that he knows and what he can offer not only to the citizens of Novi Grad but to the entire BiH – stated Komšić.

The holder of the DF list in Novi Grad, Adnan Podžo, did not want to talk much about himself, saying that he is the first among equals on a list of 36 people.

- Our list has 36 candidates. We have young people, but also older ones who can help a lot with their experience. We have 40 percent of the fairer sex on the list, and we are proud of that. Our list is specific and guarantees that we will be successful – said Podžo.
