Central Election Commission of BiH Appoints New Secretary General

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Central Election Commission (CEC BiH) is expected to get a new Secretary General soon. The Civil Service Agency of BiH conducted the written part of the professional exam among candidates on Wednesday, as announced on the Agency's website.

The current acting secretary of the CEC is Jasmina Hadžiabdić. This position was previously held by Radoje Šupeta, after the Secretary General of the Central Election Commission of BiH, Božica Ban, retired in 2015.

The candidates for the new Secretary General of the CEC include: Hasan Ganibegović from the Government of FBiH, Dr. Enver Išerić, Emina Drino, and Elvedin Jusufbašić from the Ministry of Finance and Treasury of BiH, Munib Isaković from the Ministry of Security of BiH, then Dejan Ružić, an official of the Prosecutor's Office of West Herzegovina Canton, Goran Mišković from the Ministry of Security, Dalibor Matić, administrative inspector at the Ministry of Justice of BiH, and Ivan Milićević. Among others applying for the position of Secretary General are Svetlana Ostojić, secretary of the Assembly of the Municipality of Istočni Stari Grad, Miodrag Kovačević, secretary of the Assembly of the Municipality of Istočno Sarajevo, secretary of the Assembly of the Municipality of Sokolac, Borjanka Krsmanović, as well as other candidates, reports the Patria agency.

The Secretary General of the CEC heads the Secretariat of the Central Election Commission of BiH. The Secretary General has broad powers. They perform administrative-technical and professional tasks for the Central Election Commission of BiH. With the help of professional services, they prepare opinions that are submitted to the members of the CEC.

The Civil Service Agency of BiH will submit the list of the best-ranked candidates for the position of Secretary General of the CEC to the members of the Central Election Commission of BiH.
