Central Mosque in Paris under heavy security, worshippers subjected to detailed checks

The wider area around the Central Mosque in Paris (Grande Mosquée) has been under the watchful eye of French security agencies since the early morning hours, and worshippers who came for Friday prayers were thoroughly searched, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.

Usually, several thousand worshippers gather at this mosque on Fridays, Al Jazeera reports.

We recall, a state of emergency was declared in France for three months following the series of terrorist attacks on November 13 in Paris, in which 129 people were killed and more than 350 wounded. Security measures have been raised to the highest level, and counter-terrorism operations continue unabated. A suspicious package was found near the French Parliament this morning and was destroyed.

As reported by a correspondent of the Bosnian news agency Patria, security measures around mosques in Sarajevo have also been increased.
