Čengić: Novalić talks about declining birth rate, while SDA blocked the Law on Medically Assisted Fertilization

Irfan Čengić, Secretary General of the SDP, last night, after the appearance of Fadil Novalić, Prime Minister of the FBiH on FTV, expressed his opinion regarding Novalić's statement that the birth rate in BiH is declining, writes the news agency Patria.

- Novalić, who speaks with concern about the declining birth rate in BiH and that the number of babies born has decreased by one third, should know that his SDA blocked the proposal for the Law on Medically Assisted Fertilization in the Federation of BiH, which was proposed by SDP BiH.

According to statistics, every sixth couple has problems with infertility; this law should have enabled them to have the state cover the costs of artificial insemination. Unfortunately, this law was blocked by the representatives of SDA-HDZ, so I ask you not to be hypocritical and not to say that you care about young people and the future of BiH, because with your actions you show that this is not the case.

We in the SDP will soon resubmit this law to the parliamentary procedure because we will not give up the fight for married couples who want to start a family but cannot do so without state assistance – stated Čengić.
