Čengić: The key motive for the attack is the seizure of parking spaces

(Patria) - A bomb was thrown at the house of the mayor of Sarajevo's Old Town Municipality, Irfan Čengić, early this morning, and he held a press conference today discussing possible motives.
Čengić stated at the beginning of his address that the investigation is still ongoing and that he does not yet have all the information, but he has certain knowledge about the motives for the attack.

"We believe that the key motive for this attack is the seizure of parking spaces from companies and individuals who have used them for decades. Millions of marks were taken for this. We will not give up the fight," said Čengić, and continued:

"The case currently in the KS Prosecutor's Office is related to SKY, operation 'Start', which concerns the exploitation of public areas for criminal activities. We believe that they want to intimidate us in this way as well. You saw that two people were arrested last week because that investigation was expanded...".

"My family suffered terror this morning, but I believe in the MUP and FUP. I currently feel threatened, but I have protection. It's not easy when a bomb is thrown into your home where you are with your child and wife," said Čengić.

The municipal and city councilor Vedad Deljković also addressed those present. Last week, also in the early morning hours in Kreštalica street where Deljković lives, an explosive device was thrown.

"We will certainly not budge an inch from our path. All parking spaces will be returned to the Old Town Municipality and will be the property of the Municipality. These two cowardly acts have not overly concerned me or the mayor. The security situation is not good, even though Minister Katica says it is. You can even take tanks, nothing will change. I don't need protection and I promise that we will continue on this path," said Deljković, and sent a very interesting message to 'prosecutor Marko'.

"I tell him to do his job, and not to watch when someone goes to work," said Deljković.
