Sarajevo City Leaders Send Condolence Telegram to Family of Former Mayor Salko Selimović

Sarajevo Mayor Abdulah Skaka and deputies Ivica Šarić and Milan Trivić sent a telegram of condolences today to the family of the late Salko Selimović, former mayor of Sarajevo, recipient of the April 6th Award and a prominent businessman.

- Throughout its long history, Sarajevo has had many great and significant people, many have woven their lives into the growth and development of our city where East and West meet and have lived together for centuries. Salko was, without doubt, one of them, and a special one - they stated in the telegram.

Salko Selimović served as mayor from 1987 to 1989. He was born in 1935 in Travnik. He completed his primary education in Sarajevo and secondary education – Secondary Technical School – in Zagreb.

He graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Ljubljana. He obtained postgraduate education in Russia – Leningrad Polytechnic Institute. He completed specialisation in Germany (Heitkamp Wanne-Eickel) and England (Folkestone).

He worked at "Energoinvest" as general director of the Thermal Appliances Factory and director of the Wagon and Container Factory "Vaso Miskin Crni".

He held the positions of general director of the Motor Factory "FAMOS", president of the Chamber of Commerce of Bosnia and Herzegovina, minister in the Government of BiH, and general director of "Feroelektro" Sarajevo.

The funeral and commemoration at the Sarajevo cemetery Bare will be held tomorrow, September 16, 2017.
