Leaders of the BIH Police Coordination Directorate meet with journalists: Full support for police officers seeking their rights!

(Patria) - The Director of the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies of Bosnia and Herzegovina (DKPTBiH) Mirsad Vilić and his deputies Ivica Bošnjak and Ranko Vuković hosted a meeting today with media representatives – journalists and photojournalists. The informal event "Coffee and gathering with journalists", organized at the headquarters of the DKPT BiH, was an opportunity for a sort of recap of what marked the work of this directorate in 2021 and cooperation with the media.

Vilić recalled the key challenges faced by the DKPT BiH in the outgoing year, including successfully implemented operational actions related, among other things, to the fight against human trafficking and smuggling, illegal migration, arms and drug trafficking, and the illegal trade of medicines and medical devices…

In the same period, alongside regular engagement in securing individuals, VIP delegations, and facilities, appropriate cooperation and coordination was achieved with other police agencies in BiH and abroad, including data exchange and cooperation with Interpol and Europol, as well as other international organizations.

Vilić assessed that all activities within the competence of the DKPT BiH were successfully implemented, recalling that the Council of Ministers of BiH adopted the Report on the work of the Directorate, whose employees also participated in the work of the working group for drafting the Strategy for the Fight against Organized Crime for the period 2021-2024 and other relevant documents.

In the context of reviewing the scope of work of the DKPT BiH, illustrative indicators show that 65,248 data entries on wanted persons were entered into the system, with the total number of persons in that record being 388,601, as of November 30, 2021.

When asked whether the current complex political situation in BiH is reflected in the work of the DKPT, Vilić emphasizes that these events have no reflection on the work of the Directorate, and that this institution operates in accordance with the Constitution and laws, i.e., established competencies.

Also, Vilić spoke about the discrimination against police officers who come from the Republika Srpska and are employed in state police agencies, and the fact that for years they have not had equal rights regarding retirement compared to entity police officers.

He also expressed willingness and support in the Union's fight for an increase in the base salary, considering that police officers of state agencies have much lower salaries compared to entity and cantonal police forces.
