Decision of the Municipal Court of Živinice Pending: Prosecutor's Office of Tuzla Canton Requests Pre-trial Detention for Croatian Citizens Due to Flight Risk

(Patria) - A hearing was held today at the Municipal Court in Živinice regarding the proposal by the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Tuzla Canton to impose a one-month pre-trial detention on 14 suspects for the criminal offense of participating in a group of people who commit a criminal offense (Article 341, Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of FBiH).

Pre-trial detention has been proposed for eleven citizens of the Republic of Croatia: Josip Kustura (39), Ivan Beoković (33), Tomislav Kustura (40), Alen Barunčić (22), Marko Jovanović (25), Petar Vukasović (45), Pero Vujčić (31) from Split, Marin Kristian Mikelić (24) from Trogir, Roko Kalašić (22) from Pula, Duje Penić (30) from Ploče, Ivan Vrsalović (25) from Supetar, and three citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina Marko Primorac (27) from Čitluk, Josip Sivrić (20) from Međugorje, and Andrej Jokić (28) from Brčko (who holds citizenship of BiH and Austria).

They are suspected of acting as an organized group on January 24, 2026, around 10 PM in the village of Dubrave Gornje near Tuzla International Airport, which also included other individuals besides them. They arrived at this location with several vehicles, waited for a group of fans of FK Crvena Zvezda, whom they knew had been at a match in Sweden and would arrive at the airport on a flight from Malmö, and when the group of fans of the aforementioned club exited the airport premises, they attacked them using physical force, wooden clubs, metal rods, flares, and other objects, resulting in four people sustaining serious bodily injuries, including a police officer from the Živinice Police Administration who responded to the official intervention, and several people sustaining minor injuries.

Strong police forces from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tuzla Canton, from several police administrations, a Special Unit team, and the Criminal Police Sector responded to the scene, during which the suspects were apprehended. In addition to them, over 70 individuals who participated in this event were brought to the premises of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tuzla Canton for questioning, after which they were released.

Police officers conducted a criminal investigation, and the suspects were handed over to the jurisdiction of the Tuzla Canton Prosecutor's Office along with the report on the committed criminal offense and accompanying material evidence.

An order for investigation was issued against the suspects, and they were questioned at the Prosecutor's Office.

Pre-trial detention has been proposed due to circumstances indicating a flight risk, as well as the risk that they might repeat or continue committing this or similar criminal offenses on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina if released.
