CCI: HNK Government worked the least in 2017, USK the most

SARAJevo, (Patria) - Cantonal governments in the Federation generally continued to violate their operating rules in 2017, with an intensity of work below the prescribed level, it was announced today by the Centers for Civil Initiatives (CCI), which monitor the work of legislative and executive authorities in BiH at all levels. The non-governmental organization pointed out that the only exception was the Government of the Una-Sana Canton, which held 54 regular sessions in 2017, meaning an intensity of work above 1 regular session per week, on average.

“The Government of HNK had the fewest regular sessions held in the observed period – only 28. And very close to it are the governments of SBK, ZHK, and PK, all with just around 2.5 sessions per month on average,” stated the CCI.

In the context of creating opportunities to improve citizens' quality of life, the analysis by this organization states, it is very important for the government to focus on citizens' key problems and reform processes. That is, on adopting measures that can systematically lead to an improvement of the situation in certain areas.

Much greater seriousness, efficiency, and transparency are needed in the implementation of measures from the Reform Agenda.

Mechanisms need to be created and a political culture built in which ministers and prime ministers are normally replaced due to poor results, and in which individuals convicted of criminal offenses that question their moral and professional ability to perform public functions, as well as individuals caught in fraud, abuse of public funds, or violation of the law, will not be able to hold responsible public positions.
