Ćavar on Zubac: Procedure for blocking access to classified data

The BiH Ministry of Security received information on July 10 and forwarded it to the BiH Prosecutor's Office, specifically prosecutor Miroslav Marković, who stated that information about the investigation against the director of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) was sent long ago to the Independent Oversight Board and the Deputy Director of SIPA, but they did not act in accordance with legal regulations, confirmed Mladen Ćavar, Deputy Minister of Security of BiH, for the Patria News Agency.

The Independent Oversight Board of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, which has not yet requested the dismissal or suspension of Zubac, had information from prosecutor Marković on February 20 about receiving an order to conduct an investigation.

- I read the information on July 11, as I was out of the office on the 10th. As soon as I saw it, I took certain actions regarding this matter, and we will act in accordance with the law. We took certain steps immediately on Monday and initiated the required procedure. We sent letters to SIPA and the Independent Oversight Board requesting specific information so that we can act appropriately on this matter – says Ćavar.

He could not further state whether a Decision would be made to prevent the director of the State Investigation and Protection Agency from accessing classified data until the criminal proceedings are concluded, which was requested.

- I do not know the details, and we cannot prejudge matters. The Independent Oversight Board needs to do its part, and you should ask them why they haven't done it so far. It is not true that I am running away or evading answers. I never had official information until July 10, and we will try to complete the entire process in the coming days – says Ćavar.
