Čavalić to the Trojka and HDZ: No one will expel you from political parties, there are human motives to be against

(Patria) - Head of the Party of BiH Caucus in the FBiH Parliament Admir Čavalić, during the debate on the election of a judge of the Constitutional Court of BiH at today's session of the House of Representatives, called on representatives not to support the election of Marin Vukoja.

- I think it is the duty of all of us to discuss this issue, because this is one of the most important issues. I know there are colleagues from the majority who will not support this. There are three pieces of advice, the first concerns the procedure.

I note that we had a legal faculty assistant and they were not allowed to attend the Election and Appointment Committee. We know that the candidate is political. What is key regarding procedures is that we do not have the option to choose - said Čavalić.

He reminds that elections were held in 2005 and 2008, and in 2024, that possibility does not exist.

- This is not an election, this is a confirmation, and that is the key objection when we talk about the procedure. You cannot choose a side here, a procedural and constitutional right is denied. That is a problem and we cannot remain silent - emphasizes Čavalić.

He also says it is unclear how social democrats and social liberals can elect a right-wing judge.

- It is an ideological issue, because that judge can overturn what you advocate for in the next 19 years. Politically speaking, there were representatives who said they would not vote if there were more candidates, and now I call on them to return to what they said.

We have a call from two members of the BiH Presidency. I call on colleagues from the SDP to listen to their member who is also a member of the BiH Presidency. You have an argument.

I call on colleagues from the HDZ to listen to Presidency member Željko Komšić. Damir Arnaut called on colleagues from Our Party not to vote for Vukoja, and I ask them to listen.

We are awaiting the opinion of the Venice Commission and the decision of the Constitutional Court of FBiH. We have signatures from members of the House of Representatives from the previous term who say we should support the second-ranked candidate. Those who are still here cannot act that way.

You are not at work, citizens elected you, the burden is heavy, but I appeal to you to remember your voters. There will be no consequences, the FBiH Government will survive, whatever happens tonight.

No one will expel you from political parties. Procedural, political reasons, and human motives dictate that you should be against - added Čavalić.
