Čaušević: Forto never answered the questions, protests are the result of inaction and arrogance

(Patria) - The Logistics Consortium of Bosnia and Herzegovina started a "Protest until demands are met" across the country this morning at 6:00 AM. Trucks are on main roads and highways, city streets, customs points, borders.

At a press conference of the SDA Club in the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, Midhat Čaušević addressed the media, stating that as a representative he had repeatedly pointed out the problem faced by transporters from BiH.

- As a representative, I pointed out the problem faced by transporters from BiH. Minister Edin Forto never deigned to answer a question, nor did he ever deign to provide an answer in written form. This is the result of inaction, arrogance, and an irresponsible attitude on the part of the relevant minister Edin Forto, as well as the ministries tasked with resolving this issue. All this indolence has led to a kind of controlled blockade. The dissatisfaction of this population is expressed through protests across BiH - said Čaušević.

He added that this is not a local problem, but a matter for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Vijesti.ba reports.

- This is not a local problem. This is a state issue; the state must react. BiH is in the biggest blockade since the war. We want to send a clear appeal that they must take this population seriously and that they are not just drivers. These are highly educated people and very well organized. There could be far-reaching consequences if we do not react. They represent the lifeblood of BiH society - said representative Čaušević.

The Consortium's demands are: elimination of discrimination against drivers in the EU - compliance with the AETR agreement, fulfillment of promises by the BiH Ministry of Communications and Transport - amendments to regulations within its competence, financial relief for transporters - return of 50 percent of excise duty, 50 percent discount on tolls and service exporter status, and acceleration of work at border crossings, inspection and customs procedures.
