Čampara Resigns from SDA Presidency: "I Can No Longer Remain Silent"

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Aljoša Čampara has sent a letter to the SDA Party Headquarters and the President of the Main Board, Šerif Špago, informing them that he is submitting his irrevocable resignation from the position of member of the SDA Presidency. 

We are publishing Aljoša Čampara's letter in its entirety: 

"I am hereby informing you that I am submitting my irrevocable resignation from the position of member of the Presidency of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA). The Party of Democratic Action that I joined and in which I have been active for years is no longer what it used to be, as there has been a departure from proclaimed congress goals, an evident decline in value criteria in personnel policy, and a tacit acceptance of deviant phenomena, processes, and behaviors of certain representatives in executive and legislative power. We are witnessing the ignoring attitude of the central bodies of the SDA towards internal party election results that contradict the Statute and election rules, as well as processes that do not lead to general progress and significantly undermine the integrity and authority of the SDA. These are facts that not only I am aware of, but, rest assured, numerous other members of the Presidency, the Main Board, as well as the membership and sympathizers.

I am submitting this resignation, in addition to the aforementioned, due to the fact that an atrophying process has been occurring within the SDA for some time, whereby suitability and sycophancy are prioritized over professionalism, personal dignity, freedom of thought and speech, with the inevitable demonization of those who openly speak and provide relevant arguments as evidence for evident irregularities. The culmination of everything happened at the end of February this year when a recording was leaked to the public that showed the devastating state of our SDA in the smallest details. The biggest political-corruption affair, which was named after its main actor, "Asim," and which the shocked public, not I, characterized as such, has not yet reached its final epilogue after six months, which deeply disappoints me, but also further convinces me of this decision. Even more devastating is the fact that the actors of this affair, contrary to reason and law, have been rewarded with certain appointments and positions, while those who, as an expression of social and party responsibility, reported the affair in an effort to locate and remove the malignant part of the party organism in accordance with procedures, have been presented as dissidents and opponents of internal party interests.

Therefore, I believe that we should all ask ourselves whether the SDA can be a leader, and whether citizens will accept us in such a role, in the fight against crime and corruption at the level of system institutions, if we are not prepared to resolve a political-corruption affair within the party. I have tried from the position of a member of the SDA Presidency to correct deviations within the party, insisting on publicly proclaimed congress goals, but my attempts have unfortunately been in vain, and my efforts have often been misinterpreted and spun through party media and commissioned articles from the party leadership. As a representative in the Assembly of Sarajevo Canton, within the club, I have benevolently and professionally, and in the Assembly sessions, continuously and meritoriously presented the congress goals and election messages of the SDA, and preemptively warned about nepotistic appointments, from the moment compromised cadres were proposed as ministers, to the latest retrograde and illogical activities aimed at changing and adapting the Statute of public enterprises for the purpose of appointing suitable cadres. I made it known that this is institutional corruption of the highest order, but all my warnings and all my calls to abandon such immoral decisions, due to which the SDA is losing authority among citizens, have remained without results. We have all witnessed this, and we were all aware of it in the party's Presidency, but we remained silent.

For all the above reasons, I cannot remain silent, and from today, I will no longer be in any party body. I understand my resignation from the position of member of the SDA Presidency as my human and moral obligation, especially after the recent brutal demonization of my closest associates, and the attack on my honor and family, all orchestrated by Osman Mehmedagić Osmica, director of the Intelligence Security Agency (OSA) of Bosnia and Herzegovina. My family has a history, family integrity, and social dignity, and my associates are young, professional, honorable, and honest individuals who, by diligently studying, earned their university degrees at state universities, unlike some SDA cadres, such as Osman Mehmedagić himself. Therefore, I have decided that I will no longer tolerate continuous attacks based on lies and attempts to discredit my family and young, professional, and educated individuals, simply because they work with me. Aware of the fact that by being a member of the SDA Presidency, I cannot contribute to solving the aforementioned problems in any way, despite numerous statements at party meetings and in public, I have decided to resign," the letter states.
