Čampara on Izetbegović's statements: Each of us should think about how we will be remembered

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Aljoša Čampara, a representative in the KS Assembly and delegate in the House of Peoples, reacted on the social network Facebook to the statements of SDA president Bakir Izetbegović.

"Regarding the statements of the SDA president and my friend Bakir Izetbegović - President Izetbegović, while a guest on Federal Television, made a number of claims, and some of them, such as that we are friends, that we have spent a lot of time together, and that we have had more conversations recently, I can confirm. We are indeed friends, and that will not change from my side, regardless of how further processes and events unfold. Likewise, I will not reveal the details of our conversations, although I suspect that many false do-gooders would very much like to know them, so they can continue with conspiracy theories," Čampara stated.

He adds: "Of course, there is also the other side of our relationship, the party-political one, about which I have often spoken publicly, among other things, and finally wrote about it in my resignation."

"From the moment I submitted my resignation, apart from messages in the media, there have been no official conversations, which leads me to two possible conclusions: Either one does not want to face the presented arguments, or one is waiting for time to do its work and for everything to be covered up by 'snow and frost'. It seems to be the former. At least that's how President Izetbegović's statement sounded to me, that he sees nothing worrying or serious in the explanation of my resignation, in which I have more than evidently presented several major problems that SDA is facing and which it persistently ignores. One of those problems is the 'Asim' affair. I am surprised by such a statement, and I think it is demotivating for all those who hope for positive changes within SDA," Čampara said.

Given that Izetbegović commented on Čampara's advancement, the former member of the SDA Presidency responds as follows: "Regarding my advancement, well, you see, in a party where you have the same cadres in positions for decades, and where the leadership is such that, in terms of age and formally, they have long met the conditions for regular or early retirement, it might seem that I have advanced quickly in the last 15 years that I have been in SDA and involved in politics, because with such 'entrenched' cadres, it is obvious that young people, and this is true, have no chance and any effort to come to the fore is stifled, so my success is noticeable."

"Izetbegović also mentioned that the party gave me everything, which is not entirely true, and it is much more correct to say that it was a mutual relationship, because I also gave my full commitment to the party, bringing votes and successfully defending those programmatic goals that I considered correct and good for the citizens and the state. That is why I stoically endured numerous attacks for years, often without any party protection. Therefore, all this should be taken into account, because SDA has given a chance to many who have never tested their rating in elections, and who have held and still hold significant positions, even though they have tarnished the reputation of SDA through affairs that we have had the opportunity to see in recent months. And when we talk about the constant reproach that I hold three positions, I want to remind you that for two of these three positions, I derive legitimacy directly from the trust given to me by the citizens, or the number of votes I won. Besides, in the 2018 elections, I was the only one in SDA to exceed the 20% threshold and, along with Semir Efendić, won the most votes for SDA, and it was precisely on that basis that I was elected as an SDA delegate to the House of Peoples of the FBiH," said Aljoša Čampara.

And he continued: "As for the third position, the position of the Federal Minister of Internal Affairs, I hold it in a technical mandate under the same rules by which my colleague Edin Ramić, who was elected to the NSRS, or Šemsudin Dedić, who was elected to the PSBiH, holds that position, but it is interesting why you have never heard SDA officials or compliant media reproach anyone but me for this."
 
"Regarding Mr. Izetbegović's comment about how he would like me to be remembered, I would only say that only dear God knows that, but also that each of us who is engaged in public affairs should think about how and in what way we will be remembered. As for me, I will continue to do my job and political engagement honestly and fairly, for the general good and the best I can, and I hope to be remembered for that. At the same time, I hope and sincerely wish that my president will be remembered as a visionary who, with his policy, attracted young, capable, educated cadres with valid diplomas to SDA, who would help in managing and creating positive processes within the party and society, similar to European-level politicians, but also for cleansing society and the party of malicious phenomena such as corruption," concluded Čampara.
