Čajlaković: The faster rejoices at Eid like a groom at a wedding

Those who did not fast, but will celebrate Eid, I would say they are like wedding guests. When someone gets married, only he truly rejoices, he rejoices at meeting his beloved. And the wedding guests, those people who are at the wedding, they also liven up the wedding in a way, they also rejoice, sing, but it is not nearly as dear to them as it is to the groom. That is why only those who have fasted truly rejoice at Eid, said hafiz Husejn Čajlaković, a well-known Bosnian imam, hafiz, and preacher, for the Bosnian-Herzegovinian news agency Patria (NAP).

Muslims around the world are fasting the last day of the holy month of Ramadan today, and the celebration of one of the two greatest Muslim holidays - Eid al-Fitr - is tomorrow, writes the Patria agency.

For hafiz Čajlaković, tomorrow is not a holiday, but a blessed day full of beauty.

- Eid is full of beauty, reward, a blessed day, a mubarek day. And a holiday is empty. That is why we cannot call Eid a holiday. Because Eid is certainly not empty. A holiday is for those who are empty, who have nothing within them, and Eid is for the faster; they return to Allah dž. š. on that day. – stated hafiz Čajlaković.

It is sad, said the hafiz in an interview with the Patria agency, that some Bosniaks have understood Eid as a day of singing, parties, and alcohol. Hence the term - bajramski dernek (Eid party), which for him is nothing more than sinning on Eid.

- These caterers say bajramski dernek, and I say it is bajramsko griješenje (sinning on Eid), just said differently, packaged differently – says Čajlaković, writes Patria.
